Kanin is the only Slovenian high altitude skiing area. Even it has up to 6 m of snow it is closed due to economical problems.
Lawinen situation in Slovenia is not very good. On Slovenian site tk-gora I have read that Kanin is OK so I parked my camper above B station of cable car to Kanin. Expecting a perfect sunny day, but morning started in style "Morgen rot, Abend...* " A ski line was leading to Krnica. Soon I cought legendary Slovenian ski touring expert Igor Zlodej. Before we have reached Prevala saddle a strong (Sturm) wind started to blow. From there on we were exchanging up to the wind. We have reached Skrbina pod (under) Prestreljenik (the highest point of Prevala ski lift) and turned back. Skiing down in direction of wind was good and become perfect after we have turned right from the ridge down to Krnica.
Many ski lifts together with their towers are completly covered with snow. It is funny when a cable suddenly appears from the snow. And sad too.
